Science Assets™ Outreach
Science Assets™ are the attitudes, knowledge, and skills that inspire a passion for science and prepare students for life after school – both in terms of job opportunities and civic engagement. These Science Assets™ are related to confidence/identity, support, creative thinking skills, and science relevancy.
On the first visit, students participate in activities to show that science is a fun and creative process in which all students can participate. The second visit uses a hands-on, inquiry based lesson on batteries and circuits and presents Alessandro Volta, the inventor of the battery. Finally, the third visit brings a volunteer “Person of Science” from the science or engineering community who will lead kids in a circuit-building activity and show how the skills that students have been working on in class are used by people in science careers today.
